Invigorate India Yoga + Service Retreat

Spring 2020

Benefitting Her Future Coalition

I became familiar with Her Future Coalition and its amazing founder, Sarah Symons, through my friend, Amanda Cunningham, who had been working closely with the organization for years. Amanda had been on several trips to India with HFC and when she started sharing what they were up to when we were on a recent trip to Florida, I knew I wanted to be involved in some way.

That conviction became even more clear when I actually got to meet Sarah when we were in Florida. Both Sarah and Amanda shared harrowing stories about the trauma that victims of human trafficking go through and how difficult it is for them to reassimilate back into "normal" life.

Sarah shared her story about the mission of HFC (which you can read below) and her vision for its future. I was so inspired, I decided right then and there I wanted to go on the service trip to India that Amanda and Sarah were planning for March 2020.

You can read more about the work of this incredible organization here:

"Our mission is to help survivors of slavery and severe abuse with shelter, education and employment programs that enable them to remain free forever. We engage in long term, intensive interventions to rebuild girls' lives. Our programs give survivors the tools to overcome tremendous stigma and to advance far above the poverty line, transforming their identity and social status. Through a full circle approach, we address housing, mental health, education, human rights awareness, employment, social and family issues."

This compelling eight minute documentary short explores the problem of slavery and Her Future Coalition's unique solutions, including our groundbreaking goldsmith training program in India. Produced by Peg Cafferty, Dahooma Productions, 2017.
