Katie was a bilingual elementary school teacher in public schools for ten years before making a big career change and becoming a full time yoga teacher, trainer, and health coach in 2017. She received her Bachelors degree in 2007 in Spanish from the University of Kentucky and went on to teach in Spain for a year upon graduation. When she returned to the States in 2008, she received her Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on literacy and taught everything from bilingual 1st grade to 8th grade Spanish in Texas, Nevada, and South Carolina.

Katie is now based in Charleston, SC and has been practicing yoga for over 15 years. In 2013, she completed her initial 200-hour certification in Las Vegas in a heated power flow style. She has also studied with Joe Barnett and is certified to teach Yin. She completed her 300-hour Hatha training in Ubud, Bali and is a Lead Trainer for Community Yoga’s “Rock Your Purpose” Yoga Teacher Training. Katie is committed to being a lifelong learner of this practice and has taken classes and workshops from some of the greatest yoga teachers around, including Bryan Kest, Tiffany Cruischank, and Kathryn Budig.

Katie’s teaching style is a blend of pranayama (breathing) techniques, intelligent sequencing, movement with a purpose, and creating a memorable experience for her students. This often includes carefully curated playlists that match the tone of the class, story telling, quote sharing, or educating on yoga philosophy. She is also an Aromatherapist, so she often incorporates essential oils into her classes.
